Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman was originally known as Princess Diana of Themyscira or Diana Prince. Her mother is the queen of the Amazons, so Princess Diana is the second in command after her mother. This tribe was based on Greek mythology and Princess Diana was connected to the goddess Diana in mythology.

When she left her home and began her journey around the world, Diana was known both as Wonder Woman and Princess Diana. However, under the name of Wonder Woman, she received special gifts from the Olympian gods – the Lasso of Truth and indestructible Bracelets of Submission. The Lasso was made from the Golden Girdle of Gaea and the bracelets came from a shield called Aegis of Athena. The Goddess of Earth gave her supernatural strength, superhuman durability, and enhanced healing factor.

Wonder Woman is the strongest heroine on Earth, which means she is stronger than Batgirl, and Hawkgirl. It is believed that Wonder Woman is more powerful than Hercules and while Superman is stronger than her, Wonder Wonder a close second. In addition, Wonder Woman is almost invulnerable – she cannot be destroyed or killed by magical attacks. The God of Messengers – Hermes – granted Wonder Woman the ability to fly, supernatural speed, and reflexes.

Dr. Psycho, Circe, and Ares are Wonder Woman’s major arch enemies. Cheetah and Tigress also can be included in that list.

Wonder Woman is a founding member of the Justice League and League of Amazons. This fictional character was created by William Moulton Marston and was first published in 1941. The modern Wonder Woman was introduced in 1987. The New 52 Wonder Woman can draw swords from her bracelets and seems to have more strength.

FIRST APPEARANCES
The character first appeared in All-Star Comics #8 in October 1941 with her first feature in Sensation Comics #1 in January 1942.

POWER and ABILITIES
Diana is depicted as a masterful athlete, acrobat, fighter, and strategist, trained and experienced in many ancient and modern forms of armed and unarmed combat, including exclusive Amazonian martial arts. With her godlike abilities of incalculable superhuman strength, nigh-invulnerability, speed, flight, healing factor, and semi-immortality, Diana’s fighting prowess is enhanced.

ORIGIN STORY
In her debut in All-Star Comics #8, Diana was a member of a tribe of women called the Amazons, native to Paradise Island – a secluded island set in the middle of a vast ocean. Captain Steve Trevor’s plane crashes on the island and he is found alive but unconscious by Diana and fellow Amazon, and friend, Mala. Diana has him nursed back to health and falls in love with him. A competition is held amongst all the Amazons by Diana’s mother, the Queen of the Amazons Hippolyta, in order to determine who is the most worthy of all the women; Hippolyta charges the winner with the responsibility of delivering Captain Steve Trevor back to Man’s World and to fight for justice. Hippolyta forbids Diana from entering the competition, but she takes part nonetheless, wearing a mask to conceal her identity. She wins the competition and reveals herself, surprising Hippolyta, who ultimately accepts, and must give in to, Diana’s wish to go to Man’s World. She then is awarded a special uniform made by her mother for her new role as Wonder Woman and safely returns Steve Trevor to his home country.

ENEMIES & ROGUES
Wonder Woman has numerous enemies within her rogues. These include The Cheetah, Ares, Giganta, Circe, and Strife.
