To this end, he seeks to unravel the mystery of the Anti-life Equation that will allow him to control the thoughts and emotions of all living beings in the universe. The Anti-Life Equation has often been described as a quasi-mystical power that forces a listener to agree with whatever the controller tells them, while at other times it is portrayed as a scientific theory. comprehensive on how to dominate any living mind of any nature.

Although he has yet to get concrete results from his quest for the Anti-Life Equation, Darkseid repeatedly tried, through other methods, to dominate the universe. He has a special interest in Earth, as he believes that most, if not all, humans collectively carry fragments of the Anti-Life Equation in their minds. Therefore, he plans to probe the mind of each human and separate the fragments of the Equation.
